What I have learnt about splitting numbers by Will: 'So I leave the ones and I know that I can add the tens then I add the ones and at the end. so when I worked this out for 33 + ___ = 50. I took the ones and know 7 + 3 = 10 and I know there are 3 tens. I know 30 + 10 = 40 so I need to add another 10 on so it will make 50. The answer will be 17. 33 + 17 = 50. This strategy works for me.
